Mark William Brill :: Photography

About

My love of photography started with developing sheet film in total darkness and waiting to see the results of a day’s work; then printing the film and magically watching the images appear on the paper.

I still have the same feeling today. Photography is truly magical even after all these years. I still have a darkroom and miss the smells but have transitioned to digital with a Cannon 5 D and Epson 4800 printer

My first camera was a Kodak Brownie point-and-shoot camera. The second camera was a 4x5 Speed Graflex sheet film camera: learning to load sheet film in the dark, trying to remember what side was the exposure side, trying to remember to remove the film cartridge and turn it manually - I perfected the double exposure! The 4x5 was the workhorse of press photographers in the in the fifties and sixties. I still use the Graflex today for Black and White landscape photography.

My first photography job was Pacelli High School photographer and working time for Judd Photography during high school in Austin, MN. Mr. Judd was a great teacher. Since then, I have taken classes at the University of Mankato, Santa Fe Photographic workshops, Minneapolis College of Art and Design, and the New York Photo Expo.

My work has included a variety of subjects, from portraits, Fashion, Animals, Sports, and Architectural, Industrial and Photographic Journalism.

All of my work is available for sale, in print or License, if you wish to order an Image please contact me
